Three things to know
- Describe what the wall retains and what will be above it.
- Foundations, loading and water belong in the same design brief.
- A construction quote does not replace structural design.

What will the wall retain?
Distinguish a retaining structure from a low garden boundary wall. If a wall holds soil or adjoins a driveway or building, it cannot be selected by appearance alone. Send views from both sides, the known level difference and what will be above it. SORTI builds retaining walls to the design for the specific project.
Choose materials together with the structural solution
Concrete, permanent formwork blocks, stone and gabions offer different finishes and construction methods. They are not automatically interchangeable. Foundation space, ground conditions, height, loading and material availability all affect the choice. Foundation dimensions, reinforcement and structural details must come from a suitable design, not a general article.
Make water management part of the design
Water behind a wall can affect its loading. The design must address surface runoff, conditions behind the structure and a suitable discharge point. Simply adding a drainage pipe without an outlet solution is not enough. Drainage must not transfer the problem to a neighbouring plot.
Coordinate design and construction
Check the need for a designer, structural engineer and permissions for the specific project. Professional assessment is particularly important with demanding conditions, driveway loading or buildings near the wall. Coordinate excavation, removal and material deliveries. Send us any existing design so we can discuss the construction scope based on it.
Discuss your project
Send the location, a description and photographs. Petr Mašín will discuss the scope, access and price with you.
