Three things to know
- Divide the route into clearly identified sections.
- Plan pedestrian and vehicle gates alongside the fence.
- Document your own materials with an inventory, quantities and references.

Divide the fence into sections
For each section, give the length, required height and actual system. Include available route and boundary documents. Identify old fence removal, earthworks, installation and material supply separately. Owning the mesh does not necessarily mean you have all compatible parts needed to finish the fence.
Specify height and infill type
State the required height and wire infill type, with the actual system or supplier's documents if available. If still choosing, distinguish your preference from a confirmed specification. Quotes for different systems may not offer the same result.
We install wire and other fences to an agreed brief. Available options and accessories are confirmed individually. Do not infer particular infill, posts, anchoring or additional equipment from a fence name alone.
Plan gates and vehicle entrances with the route
Mark the number and positions of entrances and their purposes. Add their relationship to paths, driveways and other structures. Required dimensions and execution must follow the actual brief and documents.
If you are considering automation or other installations, list them as separate interfaces for clarification. Fence installation does not automatically confirm supply of a motor, electrical work or completion of another supplier's system.
Distinguish the old fence, earthworks and new installation
Send photographs of existing fencing and known information about posts and foundations. State what must be removed and whether loading and removal are needed. If some parts remain, clarify beforehand how their connection to the new solution will be checked.
Foundations are determined for the actual system and conditions, not one generic dimension from a guide. Add available utility documents. Our earlier fence excavation guide covers earthworks; this one defines the whole fencing package.

| Part of the brief | What to include |
|---|---|
| Route | Sections, directions, ground profile and clarified position |
| Infill and height | The required option and its documents |
| Entrances | Positions, purposes and specifications for gates and vehicle entrances |
| Preparation | Removal, earthworks and known obstacles |
| Completion | Supply, installation, removal and site handover |
If supplying your own materials, provide an inventory before the installation quote
Send the exact system reference and list of available components with any documents. Distinguish materials actually on site from those still on order. For older or mixed components, describe condition and origin in advance; suitability must be confirmed, not inferred from similar colour or height.
The list is not intended to let you determine the required number of posts or other components yourself. It lets the contractor see what the quote can rely on and what needs checking against the route and system. If something is missing, agree who specifies and supplies the actual product, transport and necessary documents.

| Information group | What to send | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Infill and system components | References, available quantities and documents. | Their relationship to the actual chosen specification. |
| Gates and other entrances | Product, dimensional documents and delivery status. | Compatibility with the route and installation. |
| Retained parts | Photographs and condition description. | Whether they can be incorporated into the new solution. |
| Missing items | A list of components not yet confirmed. | Who specifies, orders and supplies them. |
What to send for a fencing quote
Include the municipality, sketch, dimensions, required type and photographs. Add access, working-space restrictions and known documents. Explain whether you need the whole supply or, for example, installation of materials already chosen.
Compare removal, foundations to the brief, materials, installation, entrances, transport and disposal. Also confirm what should be complete afterwards. Resolve unclear items before ordering rather than assuming they are automatically included.
Frequently asked questions
Is fence length enough for a price?
It is a starting point, but add the system, height, ground profile, entrances and preparation. The same length does not mean the same job.
Can a new fence be combined with old fence removal?
Send the whole project and documents. Feasibility and individual activities, including removal, are confirmed for the actual site.
Is a gate automatically included in the fence price?
Only if explicitly included in the quote. State the number, positions and required specification.
Does this guide replace excavation or installation design?
No. It addresses the complete project brief; foundation dimensions and installation methods are determined for the actual system.
Send the route and material specification
Identify sections, entrances and retained parts. If you have your own components, attach an inventory and documents so installation can be assessed.
